The actress of “Squid Game”, Lee Joo-Sil, died at 81 years old.
Lee died Sunday in his family home in Uijeongbu, South Korea, according to the Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo.
She received a diagnosis of stomach cancer in November 2024, said the newspaper.
Lee has already been diagnosed with stadium breast cancer in the fifties and received less than a year to live, but it received the clearest of doctors 13 years later.
His funeral will take place at Shinchon Severance hospital on February 5.
Lee played in “Squid Game” as Park Mal-Soon, the mother of the police detective Hwang Jun-ho, and the mother-in-law of the man head-on, Hwang In-Ho.
She appeared in the first two episodes of season 2, according to her IMDB.
During the second season of the Netflix Show, Hwang Jun-Ho rejoices with a fisherman to find the island where his half-brother runs the matches.
It is not known if Lee will be in the third and last season, which turned before his death and will be presented on Netflix in June 2025.
Fans of the successful show reacted to Lee’s death on social networks.

Lee started playing in 1964 with roles in Stage Productions and as a vocal actor.
One of her most famous cinema roles was in the 2016 Zombie thriller “Train to Busan”, where she played the grandmother of the Seok-Woo protagonist.
She also appeared in Korean theater broadcasts, notably “The Uncanny Counter”, “Country Diaries”, “It’s Beautiful Now” and “The Witch’s Diner”.
Netflix and “Squid Game” have not yet published a declaration on Lee’s death.
Season 2 of the show was created in December 2024 and follows Seong G-un from Lee Jung-Jae, Aka Player 456, which returns to the matches after winning 45.6 billion South Korea Won to end one times and for all.
According to Nielsen, the show was the most seen series in a single week in 2024 with 4.9 billion minutes between December 23 and December 29, Variety reported.
Season 2 of “Squid Game” has also become the third most watched television season on Netflix, behind only season 1 “Squid Game” and “Wednesday”.
