Charley Scalins, an American actor who appeared in two of the most famous series of HBO, “The Wire” and “The Sopranos”, died on May 1 after a battle with Alzheimer. He was 84 years old.
His death was confirmed by an online Billology.
“(He was) better known and above all as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend,” read the Billology. “Professionally, Charley Scalies was an American actor and former commercial director whose life reflected a rich mixture of professional success, creative passion and real joy for life. His favorite audience was always sitting around the dinner table. ”
Scalines played in season 2 of “The Wire”. He appeared in the 12 episodes under the name of Horse Face, a longShoreman of Baltimore imprisoned and member of the Local section 1514 of the IBS with a categorical allegiance to his criminal boss, Frank Sobotka.
In “The Sopranos”, Scalies appeared in the episode of season 5 “The Test Dream” as Tony football instructor, coach Molinaro. His character manifests himself in Tony’s dream, shouting on him for throwing his life for becoming a criminal.
The other scalie television credits include “homicide: Life on the Street”, “Law & Order”, “Law & Order: SVU” and “Cold Case”. On the film side, he appeared in “12 Monkeys”, “Liberty Heights”, “Jersey Girl” and “Two Bits”.
SCALIES has also played in a number of productions on stage with St. Francis players in Springfield, Pennsylvania, including “Guys and Dolls”, “Chicago” and “The Wizard of Oz”.
He leaves to mourn his wife and “the true love and the joy of his life”, Angeline M. Scalies and her five children: Charles SCALIES III, Angeline Kogut, Anthony Scalies, Christa Ann Scalie and Anne Marie Scalies.
