ALS is the most common form of motor neurons disease, which means that the terms are often used interchangeably. It is a terminal degenerative disorder that leads people to lose the use of their members and their ability to speak, to swallow and ultimately breathe independently.
There is no remedy; People with motorcycleur disease die, on average, 27 months after diagnosis, but some patients can live decades – like Stephen Hawking, who was diagnosed with a form of the fight against the disease at the age of 21 and lived up to 76 years.
He is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease in North America, named after the Yankees baseball player who was diagnosed with the condition in 1939.
The other famous names that have been diagnosed with motor neurons include David Niven and Roberta Flack.
Dane is married to the actor and model Rebecca Gayheart and the couple has two children.
