Robert Lewandowski put a splint when Barcelona supported a 4-1 victory against Girona to move three points to the Liga summit on Sunday.
After Real Madrid, the second, pulled a level on points with them on Saturday by beating Leganes, the Hansi Flick team restored their advantage at the Olympic stadium.
Lewandowski responded to the double of the Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe with one of his family to keep three goals in advance in the race for the Golden Boot of Spain.
Barcelona remains undefeated in 2025
Barcelona, undefeated this year in 20 games, took the lead thanks to a goal from Ladislav Krejci towards the end of the first half.
Arnaut Danjuma pulled the level of Girona, but Lewandowski scored twice and Ferran Torres finished the rout.
“We played with patience, we had a plan and if we play with this plan, we can still score a lot of goals and win the match,” said veteran striker Lewandowski in Dazn.
The 36 -year -old said that he had his legs to continue playing for the seasons to come.
“I know that many people talk about my age, but … I want to play more years at the highest level,” said International Poland.
“I feel very well physically, I think that looking at the statistics, there is no difference a few years ago.”
Girona beat Barcelona twice last season, but had trouble knocking on these heights again and sitting 13th.
“They were superior,” admitted the coach of Girona Michel Sanchez.
“There is a difference between the teams and it’s the truth … Barcelona dreams of titles every year.”
Flick turned some of his usual suspects with the shock of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico Madrid.

It was remarkably the 20th time that the Flick team of the season scored four or more than 45 games, with a triple potential in sight.
“This is what I like in my team, they always want to score goals, it’s always like that,” Flick told journalists.
“It is the mentality and the attitude of the team and it is good, I think everyone loves it, you like it, the fans love it, the club loves it and everyone is happy at the moment.”
Elsewhere, the fourth place, Bilbao, was held in a 0-0 draw at home by Osasuna, allowing Villarreal to cut the difference to them after having beat Getafe 2-1.
Real Betis, sixth, won its sixth consecutive match to stay on Villarreal’s tail, beating its rivals Sevilla 2-1 in a derby confrontation.
Valencia’s 1-0 victory against Mallorca took them 15th, four points from the relegation area.
