CAPE Canaveral, Florida (AP) – NASA Two stuck astronauts I took their first space walk together on Thursday, leaving the international space station almost eight months after moving forward.
Commander Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore Drift to carry out maintenance work and wipe the outside of the station for evidence of any microbe which could still be alive after launch from the earth and escape in the vents.
“Let’s go,” said Wilmore, emerging at 260 miles (420 kilometers) above Spain.
The pair expected staying a week when they Arrived at the space station last June. But their brand new driving, the Boeing Starliner capsule, has encountered so many problems that NASA has decided to turn it empty.
This left the two test pilots, both captains of the retired navy, orbit until SpaceX could bring them home. This will only occur until the end of March or early April, extending its mission at 10 months due to a SpaceX delay in the launch of their replacements.
Williams interpreted a space Two weeks ago with another NASA astronaut. He marked the first time of Wilmore outside this trip. The two accumulated space walks during stays of the previous space station.
