Artificial intelligence company Thalamus Irwine and electric vehicle company Triton EV announced on Thursday that they have teamed up to develop autonomous vehicles in India by 2023.
Triton EV intends to invest 2,100 crore rupees in the establishment of a factory in Telangana.
“Thalamus Irwine will install an AI-based safety system for Triton EV drivers in the first phase. We plan to use the data generated by Triton EV and use it to develop autonomous vehicles. We plan to transform the same car as an autonomous vehicle in phase 2 via a firmware update, ”said Rishabh Sharma, CEO of Thalamus Irwine.
Triton EV intends to produce passenger and utility vehicles as well as automated electric vehicles for defense.
“We plan to deploy the first product from the Telangana plant by August 2022 in phase 1. Phase 2 is expected to begin eight months after the deployment of the first product which will be subject to regulatory approvals,” said the president and Managing Director of Triton EV, Himanshu Patel. .
