Tesla hires India almost a decade after launching pre -orders

Tesla amplifies her recruitment efforts in India just days after the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, met Elon Musk.

Tesla listed 13 roles based in Mumbai on her quarry page. The positions were also announced on Monday on the company’s LinkedIn page.

The roles are divided into three categories – vehicle service, sale and customer support, as well as operations and commercial support.

All announcements show that jobs, which are a mixture of full -time and part -time roles, are based in the suburbs of Mumbai.

The announcements also referred to the opening of a Tesla store and a delivery center in India. For example, the list of “store managers” indicates that the new rental will be “responsible for the supervision and conduct of sales and sales operations”.

Tesla also hires people for delivery operations. Staff as part of this designation should “supervise and coordinate administrative responsibilities at the delivery center”.

Musk met Modi in Washington on Thursday. The Indian Prime Minister also met President Donald Trump during his two-day visit to the United States.

It is not clear if Modi and Musk discussed Tesla’s entry into the Indian market at their meeting. Modi wrote in an X Post Thursday that he had a “very good meeting” with the CEO of Tesla.

“We have discussed various problems, including those who fascinate them, such as space, mobility, technology and innovation,” added Modi.

Trump told journalists on Thursday that even if he did not know why Musk had met Modi, he supposed that it was because Musk “wanted to do business in India”.

Tesla representatives did not respond to a request for comments from Business Insider.

Tesla has been planning to enter the Indian market for almost a decade. In April 2016, the company began to accept pre -orders for its vehicles.

Then, in January 2021, Tesla recorded a business in India, just a few weeks after the country’s Minister of Transport, Nitin Gadkari, said Tesla launched her operations at the beginning of 2021. India is the third largest automotive market in the world.

But these plans were suspended. Musk said that in July 2021, it was difficult for Tesla to penetrate the Indian market because the “import rights of the country are the highest in the world from afar of any large country”.

“Always through many challenges with the government,” Musk wrote in an X Post in January 2022 when he was asked if Tesla still planned to get started in India.

In March, India reduced its taxes on imports on electric vehicles made by companies that undertake to invest at least $ 500 million and start making cars in the country in the three years.

Musk had to visit India in April and announce the entry of Tesla into the country. However, the trip was postponed at the last minute.

“Unfortunately, Tesla’s very heavy obligations require the visit to India to be delayed, but I can’t wait to visit later this year,” Musk wrote in an X Post in April.
