Federal investigators study an unusual Paris activity concerning the current goalkeeper of Miami Heat Terry Rozier during his stay with the Hornets, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
Rozier, 30, left a match of March 23, 2023 after less than 10 minutes against the Pélicans in New Orleans, and received a strong interest from Paris on his compensation factors for the match.
Rozier was not accused of a crime or a reprehensible act, according to the report.
At the time, Rozier was injured in the foot and missed the rest of the season.
“In March 2023, the NBA was alerted from an unusual Paris activity linked to Terry Rozier’s performance in a match between Charlotte and New Orleans,” said NBA spokesman Mike Bass. “The League conducted an investigation and did not find a violation of the NBA rules. We are now aware of an investigation by the American prosecutor’s office for the Oriental District of New York linked to this issue and we have cooperated with this investigation. »»
Rozier is currently in the third year of his contract of $ 96,258,694 over four years which he signed in 2022.
Porter, a former Raptors player, was prohibited by the NBA for life after being found to have limited his participation in games for Paris.
He pleaded guilty in July to consume fraud by wire.
