Terron Armstead withdraws from the NFL to 33 years after doing $ 116 million

Terron Armstead moves away from the NFL with two years remaining on his contract.

The PRO Bowl left tackle announced its dolphin retirement on Saturday at a party in Miami.

Armstead, 33, won $ 115.8 million over a 12 -year career with saints and dolphins, according to spotrac.com. He left an additional $ 15.5 million in cash on the table, retiring now.

The decision comes after the best offensive plated are outside the board of directors in the free agency, but a few weeks before the project. This should not be a surprise for the dolphins, after Armstead flirted with the retirement of the last season of the season.

It is essential that all the teams have good offensive lines, but the replacement of Armstead is particularly critical for dolphins. The long history of concussion of the quarter-Arrière Tua Tagovailoa has led to early retirement speculations in the past.

Dolphins could give the vacant starting work to the choice of second round 2024 Patrick Paul, who was supervised by Armstead. Because Tagovailoa is left -handed, the Austin Jackson right tackle protects its blind side.

The former quarter of the saints Drew Brees paid tribute to Armstead during his retirement party, as we can see in the video shared by Nick Underhill from New Orleans.

“Twelve incredible years in the NFL,” said Brees. “The pillar wherever he went. I will never forget the day he presented himself in our locker room in 2013. He did not start that year as a starter, but it became clear very quickly that this guy was not only going to be a left starting tackle for us for a very long time, but that he was going to be a leader in our league.

“He illustrated what it takes to be a champion of this league in the locker room and with his teams for a very long time.”

Armstead started 15 games last season, increasing his total career to 131. But he was hampered by injuries and never played a full season.

“I am the most injured guy in NFL history,” said Armstead, according to Underhill. “Choose a game. Operation game. But I fought. I’m a fighter.”
