Terrible mistake to let Trump return to Twitter

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) told ABC’s “This Week” Sunday that it was a “terrible mistake” that owner Elon Musk restored Donald Trump’s access to Twitter.

Anchor Jon Karl said: “I want to start with the news that Donald Trump has been reinstated by Elon Musk on Twitter. Looking at the Jan. 6 committee hearings, Trump’s tweets were a big part of the story to be told. What do you think of his return to Twitter?

Schiff said: “I think it’s a terrible mistake. You are right. As we showed in the January 6 hearings, the President used this platform to incite this attack on the Capitol. His comments about the vice president, his own vice president, put Mike Pence’s life in danger. He showed no remorse about it. He continues to lie about his actions that day. He talks about forgiving the people who attacked police officers and attacked the Capitol that day. And that contradicts what Elon Musk said he was going to establish a board to assess that and further contradicts Musk and his concern about bots on his own platform to submit a decision to a poll on the platform that could be easily abused in this way. It just underscores Twitter’s erratic leadership under Musk and the security concerns, people fleeing Twitter and what that means for Americans’ privacy.
