Tekken 8 newcomer Miary Zo bursts into King of Iron Fist tournament this December

Bandai Namco has released the first full gameplay trailer for Malagasy newcomer Miary Zo in Tekken 8, which will launch first for Season 2 Character Pass owners on December 1.

Everyone will have access to the character starting December 4.

As seems appropriate for someone from Madagascar, many of Miary’s moves are inspired by wildlife. The gameplay trailer actually starts off relatively tame, but it’s not long before she summons a magical hydra on her arm.

Other interesting mechanics glimpsed in the trailer include the ability to jump out of bounds of the stage, creating new combo opportunities.

The character’s fighting style is inspired by Moraingy, which is actually a real form of Malagasy martial arts. Other African influences were also incorporated here.

The newcomer will be accompanied by a new scene called Baobab Horizon, which features a setting sun and a water feature in the background.

Personally, we’re not really inspired by Miary’s design – she’s the typical busty female fighting game character. But her moveset looks pretty interesting, and we’re sure she’ll be fun to play as.

This of course concludes the Season 2 Character Pass, which, honestly, has been met with a mixed response outside of Armor King.
