The Metropolitan Police believe there was an exchange of gunfire outside, but do not know the reason.

Third District Commander James Boteler said people were in the area at the time of the shooting and hoped people would come forward with information.

Mayor Muriel Bowser arrived on scene after the shooting.

Joyce Robinson-Paul, who serves on the 5E Neighborhood Advisory Commission, told Fox5, “How many shootings do you have to have before you understand that this neighborhood is under siege?”
