Teen responsible for shooting at the shopping center in Connecticut – NBC Connecticut

Waterbury police arrested a 19 -year -old Waterbury man suspected of having shot a man and four women at Brass mill center in Waterbury Tuesday afternoon. The police said that the suspect and the male victim knew each other and it was not a random shooting.

The shopping center remains closed Wednesday after the shooting.

The adolescent suspect is held on a deposit of $ 2 million and he must be judicial on Wednesday.

Police said he had been accused of five heads of first degree assault as well as arms violations.

The police responded to the Union Street shopping center around 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday and they found five victims between 18 years old and the mid -twenties who were slaughtered in the central part of the shopping center.

The investigators determined that the shooter had left the shopping center, identified a suspicion and arrested him.

Police said injuries did not put their lives in danger.

The mayor of Waterbury, Paul Pernerewski Jr., said that three of the victims had been released from the hospital. The other two remain hospitalized.

Pernerewski said the incident escaped when two young men who knew each other and had a story, “entered an ox” and that the shooter shot a weapon and shot the other man who was with four young women.

All five were injured by the shooting.

The most seriously injured victim is a young woman who was shot in the spine, said the mayor. She now feels at her ends and she will rehabilitate.

Several people were taken to the hospital after a shooting at the Brass Mill Center in Waterbury, and a person of interest was arrested.

The authorities think that the shooter had a semi-automatic pistol. The police said on Wednesday morning that they had not yet recovered the pistol that had been used.

“Armed violence is not something that we will never know.

The Brass Mill center management team published a statement on Wednesday.

“We are working in full cooperation with the Waterbury police department and local officials while investigating this unhappy incident. There is no continuous threat to the public and we will open in normal operation hours once eliminated by the city. We will extend our sincere gratitude to local emergency stakeholders for their rapid action and will continue to closely monitor the situation. All additional questions should be asked moment.”

Officials will meet on security at the shopping center and what can be done to ensure that people feel safe.

The people who were inside the shopping center during the shooting were sheltered in place.

Outside the shopping center after filming, they described a frightening and chaotic scene as it occurred.

“It was like fireworks,” said Vanessa Dracoj, an employee of the shopping center.

“It was so scary. We had so many children inside, “she added.

Governor Ned Lamont published a statement on the incident, appealing to a tragic shooting.

“We are grateful to the police, which acted quickly … Our hearts break for the community of Waterbury, the victims and their families who were affected by this incident,” said Lamont.
