A CIA recruiting video promoting diversity prompted Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) to refer to fictitious agent Jason Bourne in his review of the clip. So, Twitter users spied on an opportunity to stack the controversial lawmaker.
The video, centered on a Latino agency officer, was posted on the CIA Twitter account last week and took to social media. He has drawn criticism for perhaps trying too hard to present his subject as both exceptional and ordinary.
Cruz’s bad reputation has become Internet fodder.
“If you are a Chinese Communist, or an Iranian mullah, or Kim Jong Un … would that scare you? We’ve come a long way since Jason Bourne, ”wrote Cruz, who’s been spending a lot of energy lately shouting the right-wing slogans“ cancel culture ”and“ wake up ”.
Twitter burned the controversial lawmaker for using the fictional Bourne, a spy from Robert Ludlum’s books played by Matt Damon in multiple films, to solve real-world problems.
“Hey, moron: ‘Jason Bourne’ is imaginary – like your conscience,” wrote commentator Keith Olbermann.
Others on Twitter also burned the senator.
