Load week, so let’s go. Starting with federal regulations! Woohoo. Exciting things.
I’m talking about US Department of TransportThe new automated automated vehicle frame, which includes a permanent general control (SGO) on accident reports for vehicles equipped with certain advanced driver assistance systems and automated driving systems. There were also some changes in the Automated vehicle exemption program (AVEP).
In short, AVEP manages the language and processes of domestic and imported vehicles receiving exemptions. I want to spend a little more time on the SGO, which has greater changes. Trump administration says it rationalizes the process; Others, such as consumer reports, do not agree.
The SGO ends a 24 -hour report requirement and allows companies for five days to submit a report if a vehicle with a level 2 system is involved in an accident. As Consumer Reports note, the new order also changes the declaration requirements for a vehicle with level 2 driving automation was towed after an accident.
In the past, any vehicle with an advanced level 2 or more involved driver assistance system in an accident that did not involve death or hit a vulnerable road user like a pedestrian or a cyclist should still report it within five days. Now, the rule will only apply to vehicles with announcements (automated driving systems), which today reduces most of the vehicles on the road.
This means that if a Tesla who has an automatic pilot (or a GM vehicle with Super Cruise or Ford with her Bluecruise system on) and must be towed, he does not need to point out that the federal authorities as long as the incident did not imply a fatality, an individual being transported to a hospital for a medical treatment, another vulnerable road user or a deployment of bobs.
Reports are always necessary for any vehicle with level 2 ADAS (such as Tesla’s automatic driver) or announcements in an accident in which there is a death, an inflatable cushion is deployed, a person is transported to the hospital, or a vulnerable road user is affected.
During an interview during a Semaor event, Secretary of the DOT Sean Duffy seems to give a nod to these rules (although he says “autonomous” and not “Adas”) when he said: “What we want to do is be able to obtain good data, but if there is a scratch of paint on an autonomous vehicle, the declaration requirements have become very laborious and difficult, and that slowed down the process.”
Do you think I was wrong? Tying hands.
Ok, on the rest.
A little bird

SlateThe startup EV supported by Bezos, broke a blanket during an event in Long Beach, California. Many details that the main journalist Sean O’kane reported in her initial scoop were finally presented to the public.
Earlier in the week, we published other details of initiates thanks to certain little birds who describe how managers described internally the slate EV as a “transformer” – as in the animated series “more than Meets The Eye”. It turns out that this is exactly what the company is launching to customers.

Autonomous vehicles
CEO of alphabet Sundar Pichai received some attention for remarks when the company’s profits call for its autonomous vehicle unit Waymo. In response to a question, he said, as part of a longer answer, “there is also a future option around personal property.”
Waymo gone vaguely about the license of its technology (probably to car manufacturers) before, so I would not read too much. But it is certainly notable that Pichai said it during a call for results.
Tesla started to test its autonomous co-hail service with Austin employees and the Bay region before the company’s planned launch this summer.
Volkswagen of America And Uber Plan to launch a commercial rootaxi service – using an autonomous electric VW ID. Buzz Vehicles – In several American cities in the next decade.
Companies expect to launch a sales department in Los Angeles by the end of 2026, although it initially includes human safety drivers. The news brought me back to 2017-2018 – an era of partnership announcements, many of which have never been materialized. VW has a lot of work to do before its commercial launch, in particular by even obtaining the most basic test permit.
Electric vehicles, loads and batteries
Aidan GomezThe co-founder and CEO of the generative startup of the COHERE, joined the Board of Directors of Rivian. I do not want to read too deeply in the appointment, but that signals Rivian’s interest in applying AI to his own business while positioning himself as a software leader – and even a supplier – within the automotive industry.
Faraday Future There are still and his board of directors appointed the founder Jia Yueting as the company’s co-PDG, three years after being sidelined following an internal investigation into the allegations of fraud. Note: An investigation by the Commission on Securities and Exchange remains in progress.
Tesla Revenues have supported a hypothesis that I have been cooking in my brain for some time now. The company exists in contradictory realities. In one, Tesla’s profits are down 71% in annual shift, automotive income continues to drop and its energy activity is exposed to the American-Chinese trade war. In the other, Tesla is really an AI company which ultimately has the attention of its CEO Elon Musk and is about to launch a driving service for autonomous vehicles and an EV cheaper – although it has not yet done it.
Investors have seized the reality of Tesla-Is-Annovator with both hands and they really do not want to let go-even if the reality is that anti-MUSC feeling affects the brand and is even an official risk in its regulatory deposit. Musk’s comments on the allocation of more time in Tesla and less at Doge helped to push them there.
