Taylor Swift has released her new album and the penultimate song appears to contain multiple references to football and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

“The Alchemy,” the 15th song from “The Tortured Poets Department,” went viral within minutes of the album’s midnight release.

The bridge of the song is where the references to Kelce are most obvious.

“The Chiefs were chanting because they were saying / There was no chance / Trying to be the best in the league / Where’s the trophy? / He’s just running towards me”

Then the chorus kicks in: “Touch/Call the amateurs and kick them off the team/Ditch the clowns, get the crown back, baby, I’m the one to beat/Cause the sign on your heart says that’s it” is always reserved for me / Honestly, who are we to fight chemistry?’

Other parts of the song refer to “guys warming the benches”.

Lyrics of Taylor Swift’s New Song ‘The Alchemy’ Reference Travis Kelce

It’s a slow song that’s clearly about the man in her life, who she’s been publicly dating since September 2023 – when she went to her first Kansas City Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears.

Even though Swift wrote her first song about her boyfriend, it’s not the first time she’s sung about him.

During her Eras Tour stop in Argentina last fall, with Travis present, she changed the lyrics of her song “Karma” saying that “Karma is the Chiefs guy, he’s coming straight to my house.”

THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY. MORE SOON.
