Taylor Swift’s 3-show ‘Eras ​​Tour’ kicks off in Chicago – NBC Chicago

Chicago was whipped into a Taylor Swift frenzy on Friday as the pop star descended on Soldier Field for the first of three evening performances as part of the “Eras Tour.”

While the concert didn’t start until around 7 p.m., the “Taylor Takeover” started several hours earlier for many fans.

“I woke up at seven without any alarms,” ​​said fan Annie. “I was thinking today is the day I have to go see Taylor today. I jumped out of bed and I was ready.”

A father told NBC Chicago he went with him to help drive his daughters in and out of town. While there were plenty of moms dating their daughters, this dad just might get the dad of the year award.

“They thought they had to come,” he said. “So happy birthday.”

Fans donned bright outfits, paying homage to the different eras represented on the tour.

“All the sparkles…sparkles,” said fellow fan Kylie. “You have to. Especially if it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

The vibe at Soldier Field was overwhelmingly positive, revolving around some of Swift’s biggest hits, sequined clothing and treasured memorabilia.

“You make a whole bunch of friendship bracelets and you trade with everyone,” Aurora’s Maggie Piehl said. “Really fun you can swap bracelets and vibes so fun and positive.

For many, they were grateful that the wait and the hunt for tickets was finally over.

“I’m very excited,” said another fan, Andrew. “I’ve been waiting for this for so long. Getting tickets was such a struggle.”

Some people have had luck getting tickets for not just one night.

Sam Christensen told NBC Chicago that while Friday was his first time seeing Taylor Swift, he also got tickets to Sunday night’s concert.
