Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce reportedly skipping Met Gala 2024
Sorry, Swifties!
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have both reportedly opted out of attending the 2024 Met Gala on May 6.
Sources told TMZ that the famous couple each received “individual invitations” to the star-studded event, but they both “said ‘no’.”
It’s unclear why they’re both bowing out, and neither Swift nor Kelce, both 34, responded to the invitation — but their appearance reportedly sent shockwaves across the red carpet.
Swift has a bit of a work conflict since the fashionable event takes place just three days before her Eras tour resumes in Paris on May 9, although she has been making quick trips around the world in her private jet to d other events like the Super Bowl.
Meanwhile, Kelce doesn’t seem to have any significant conflicts, but he confirmed to Entertainment Tonight last month he was reportedly traveling to see the “Bejeweled” singer perform again and he even said that her upcoming shows in Paris and London were “can’t miss” gigs for him.
Representatives for Swift and Kelce did not respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has never attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual benefit, but his Grammy-winning girlfriend has been several times.
Swift made her Met Gala debut in 2008 just months before releasing her hit sophomore album, “Fearless,” wearing a gold Badgley Mischka gown.
The “Tortured Poets Department” singer wore different looks during the famous fashion evening of the 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014 balls.
In 2016, Swift was named co-chair alongside Jonathan Ive, Idris Elba and Anna Wintour, so she went all out for the “Manus x Machina” theme in a Louis Vuitton snakeskin dress with cutouts and thick black lace-up heels. She even dyed her hair platinum blonde and rocked a black lip for a bold look.
For more Page Six style…
Swift hasn’t returned to the Met Gala since her memorable appearance in 2016 — and has never even appeared with any of her boyfriends on a red carpet. However, fans of the hot and heavy couple were certainly hoping that the “Tortured Poets Department” artist would make a change.
The “Fortnight” singer and the Super Bowl champion went public with their relationship when Swift attended her first Chiefs game in September 2023.
Both have since been spotted several times while packing on the PDA and even traveling together.
Kim Kardashian and Olivia Rodrigo, as well as Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne and co-hosts Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth and Zendaya, are expected to attend the Anna Wintour-led event.
