Taylor Swift reacts to criticism of The Tortured Poets Department album… after critic asks to remain anonymous due to harassment

Taylor Swift has responded to some of the positive reviews about her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.

Hit singer Karma, 34, took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday and reposted a number of reviews of her latest body of work, captioning each one with her own lyrics.

She shared a glowing review from Rolling Stone that summed up Swift on the album as “confused, bitter, enraged, vulnerable, but more gloriously chaotic than we’ve ever heard her before.”

The singer wrote on the post: “And this is the closest my heart will ever explode.” The line comes from track two, which has the same name as the album, and Swift added two white heart emojis to it.

It comes after a magazine ruled out signing a critic over a less-than-favorable review of the hitmaker’s new album due to fears of harassment from Swift’s loyal fans.

The superstar also shared a five-star review from The Times, adding “These chemicals hit me like a white moan” from her song The Alchemy.

Another positive review came from The Independent, with reviewer Helen Brown writing: “The whole album is a terrific reminder of the intense, personal connection Swift can evoke in song.”

“She fills arenas and dominates the news agenda because listeners can identify with her star-studded dramas – her tales imbue their own experiences with new electricity.”

Taylor reposted it in her Stories adding the phrase “Everyone we know understands why it’s meant to be” – another one of her sayings.

She also shared a five-star review from iNews, which calls her new album “a unique record – and one of the star’s most emotional.”

Swift added the lyrics “I feel like laughing in the middle of practice” to the review, from her love anthem to boyfriend Travis Kelce, 34, titled High School.

Meanwhile, earlier today, Paste Magazine cited security reasons like the need to anonymize their review.

Writing on revised Lover, the writer has received threats of violence from readers who disagree with the work.’

They ended the statement with: “We care more about the safety of our staff than a name attached to an article. »

While the negative review wasn’t likely to deter the millions who have already listened to the album since its release early Friday morning, it does offer a healthy dose of criticism and accuses the Grammy winner of being incapable not to “infantilize” the very people who adhere to his music and who advance his successes in the first place.

The review also claims that “TTPD’s title track features some of Swift’s worst lyricism to date.”

The writer praised But Daddy I Love Him, saying it “really lends a hand to the talent for the impressive, set-piece melodies that Swift has long shown she has a finesse for.”

Much of the article seemed to dispute the question of whether Swift could be tortured while living the lifestyle of a billionaire.

“If Swift can go back to one of her dozen beach houses around the world, put her feet up and say ‘I’m a struggle poet,’ then who’s to say that millions, if not billions, of people having access to notes an app and a social media account won’t they make this dream too?

Fans were furious that the writer didn’t live up to his words.

“Where is the so-called “review” of the album itself? This is just pure ragebait vomit lol,” one angry fan wrote.

“The opening line about Sylvia Plath’s suicide isn’t weird and is very tasteless when you add the moral considerations about using Taylor’s jet, given that the writer clearly doesn’t care about being empathetic unless it’s time to tear Taylor down in a music review. .”‘ wrote another.

“We want real journalists back, not this gossip article,” one fan said.

At least one reader seemed to appreciate the controversial column.

‘Amazing article, stick the magazine!!! I am so happy that real journalists tell the truth and are not afraid to call out the devil,” he wrote.

Despite receiving slightly less positive reviews than his last three albums, according to Metacritic, The Tortured Poets Department was an immediate success with consumers.

It sold about 1.4 million copies as of Friday and surpassed the record set in 1989 (Taylor’s version) to become her biggest U.S. album to date.

The LP was streamed on Spotify over 300 million times in a single day.

It became the first album to cross the 200 million and 300 million streams mark, according to the platform.

Fortnight, the first single featuring Post Malone, also broke records for most streamed song in a single day.

Swift wrote “All’s Fair in Love and Poetry,” but topping the charts while hanging out at one of her beach houses can be the best revenge for a bad review.
