Target On Friday, he said that he made the return of diversity, equity and inclusion programs – including some that aim to better reflect his customers.
In a memo sent to his employees, the retailer based in Minneapolis said that he would end his three -year Dei objectives, stop reports to external groups focused on diversity as the equality index of business of the human rights campaign and puts an end to a program focused on the transport of more products from black or minority companies.
The memo was sent to the staff on Friday and viewed by CNBC. It was written by Kiera Fernandez, responsible for the community impact and actions for Target.
“Many years of data, information, listening and learning have shaped this next chapter of our strategy,” she said in memo. “And as a retailer who serves millions of consumers every day, we understand the importance of staying in line with the evolving outdoor landscape, now and in the future – all at the service of Target and Victory Growth and Victory from Target. “

Four years ago, Target CEO Brian Cornell said that the murder – which had occurred at a short distance from the Target headquarters in his hometown – felt personal. He said it had motivated him to intensify the efforts of Target diversity and equity.
