The bet of the day

Newcastle beat Tottenham – 7/4

Tottenham are chasing a Champions League place next season and Spurs will be desperate for three points at St James’ Park.

Ange Postecoglou’s men secured a huge victory by beating Nottingham Forest 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend, but that success was not as comfortable as the scoreline suggests.

Spurs allowed 13 shots to Forest on Sunday and the expected goal score for this match was 1.55 to 1.55.

Before this fortunate victory, Tottenham had failed to beat West Ham, needed one last goal to get the better of Luton 2-1 and were beaten 3-0 at Fulham.

Newcastle haven’t reached the heights of last season, but they have lost just three of their 16 top-flight matches at home and making Spurs favorites at St James’ Park seems a bit strong.

Special of the day

Over 4.5 goals at Brentford vs Sheffield United – 14/5

Sheffield United appear to be returning to the Championship, but the Blades have found an edge in front of goal in recent weeks.

Chris Wilder’s men have scored eight times in their last four games and picked up points against Chelsea, Fulham and Bournemouth.

When you open things up further, United’s last 15 games have averaged 4.26 goals per game and the Blades certainly won’t go down without a fight.

Brentford were involved in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Aston Villa last time out and six of west London’s 14 matches have gone above 3.5 goals.

It’s 14/5 that this clash crosses the 4.5 line and it’s worth putting in what could be an entertaining contest.

Help of the day

Watford beat Southampton – 6/1

Southampton will likely have to settle for a play-off place in their bid to return to the Premier League and the Saints could be vulnerable against a resurgent Watford.

The Hornets are unbeaten in five matches since Tom Cleverley was put in temporary charge at Vicarage Road.

Although the Hertfordshire side only won one of these matches, they faced tough games against Leeds, West Brom and Ipswich during this series.

They played extremely well in the 0-0 draw against Ipswich at Portman Road in midweek and the Hornets look to have a good chance of upsetting a Saints side who have won just three of their last nine games.
