Salt set to put the Saltiers to the edge of the sword

Phil Salt is in the kind of form that should have Scotland’s bowlers shaking before they face him in both teams’ first Group B match in Bridgetown.

The 27-year-old has been England’s top scorer in five of his last seven T20I appearances and could eclipse captain Jos Buttler and the rest of the hosts’ stacked batting line-up in the country where his cricket career began.

Salt grew up in Barbados and honed his attacking style on the pitches of the Caribbean. He smashed back-to-back T20 tons for England in Grenada and Trinidad last December, returning from the tour with 331 runs, a Player of the Series award and an average of 82.75.

Scotland’s attack suffered an early onslaught in their final warm-up match against Afghanistan when opener Gulbadin Naib smashed 69 from just 30 balls and they can expect Salt to target the boundary during power plays on Tuesday.

Dutch bowlers must be wary of Rhinos attack

Netherlands are favorites to get the better of Nepal in their Group D clash in Dallas, but the Himalayan nation have enough power in their batting line-up to make it an uphill battle.

The Rhinos smashed a total of 13 sixes – one more than the Dutch reshuffled their score – when the teams last met in a triangular series earlier this year.

And they scored eight maximums in a two-point loss to the Netherlands a few days earlier.

The dimensions of the pitch on which Tuesday’s match will be played will not deter Nepal’s batters either, with the United States and Canada smashing 21 sixes between them in the tournament’s opening match on Sunday in Texas.

Spinner ready to play for Cricketing Cranes

One of Uganda’s qualifying stars looks set to make an impact on the big stage against Afghanistan.

All-rounder Alpesh Ramjami could be the Cricket Cranes’ best weapon as he enters the tournament with a T20 bowling average of 8.88 and an economy rate of 4.74.

Granted, the 29-year-old has never faced a Test nation, but his style of bowling should be well suited to a slow Guyana wicket that offered plenty of spinners in Sunday’s clash between the West Indies and Papua New Guinea. ,

Ramjani could open the bowling for Uganda, who relied on their ability to take wickets in last year’s African qualifiers.

He returned figures of 3-26, 3-13, 2-20, 2-12 and 2-1 in the regional final and looks to be the most potent threat among skipper Brian Mark Masaba’s bowling options.
