talkSPORT betting tips – Best bets for Saturday at Newmarket Guineas meeting

The biggest day of the Rowley Mile calendar takes place on Saturday as the 2000 Guineas pits the best of the Classic generation against each other.

The card features last year’s champion, two-year-old City Of Troy, who attempts to maintain his unbeaten record and confirm that he is the outstanding performer of his age.

Our expert, Clive Gildon, has three selections on the card, including one in the main race, one in the opener and another in the Group 3 Palace House Stakes.

1.10 Newmarket – Heritage House

The big day starts with this Listed (1.10) for fillies and the one that has been underestimated on the market is Heritage Housewho takes a break from class.

She has been in hot races in her last two starts, but has run well each time, proving that her 100-1 fourth place finish in a Listed race over course and distance last year was not a coincidence when she was running way back on that Nell Gwyn track. This happened a little further away.

It’s possible she wasn’t suited to the way this race went, as she seems best served coming from a strong pace and should get it now that she’s dropped back in distance.

The hood she wore last time has been removed and Heritage House may surprise.

1.45 Newmarket – Noble style

This ultra-competitive 6f (1.45) handicap is a hot contest that won’t be easy to win, but it might be worth sticking with Charlie Appleby and William Buick, who are doing so well on the track.

They team up with Noble stylewho finished sixth in last year’s 2000 Guineas on this card and a repeat of that Group 1 form would give the side a huge chance of returning to a handicap.

The problem is that he has lost his way since then and showed regressive form in three sprint outings following his race here last year.

However, he may have been refreshed after a 272-day break and Appleby’s runners are usually fit for the first time after a layoff.

Noble Style looks to handle any terrain and might be able to challenge at top weight before returning to Group company later this season.

3.35 Newmarket – City of Troy

The 2000 Guineas (3.35) is the headline race of the weekend and is expected to go to hot favorite City Of Troy, who has looked to be an outstanding performer in three starts so far.

The son of Justify won the Superlative Stakes comfortably on the July course here last summer and was even better on soft ground at Dewhurst in October.

City Of Troy did everything that day and was no stronger than at the finish, pulling away three and a half lengths from a strong field that included several of these rivals.

It’s hard to see how any of them could reverse the trend, especially with lots of rain in the forecast. City Of Troy were comfortable in the testing conditions last season and the wet weather will likely only increase their superiority over this field.
