‘Talent 10 percent’ – Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucouré accidentally goes viral with victory post on social media as fans left hanging

Everton fans have laughed at Abdoulaye Doucouré, who appears to accidentally call himself ‘s***e’.

The Toffees sealed a third successive Premier League victory on Saturday by beating Brentford 1-0, capping a perfect week which also saw them beat fierce rivals Liverpool 2-0 at Goodison Park.

As a result, Sean Dyche’s side have now sealed the safety of the Premier League – or at least until the outcome of their appeal for points deduction is reached, according to a now-deleted post on X of the Premier League.

Many Everton players took to social media to celebrate their latest victory, but one star in particular went viral for his – and he accidentally left fans angry.

On Instagram, Doucoure posted a photo of himself applauding fans with the caption: “Talent 10%. Mental 90%. Never give up.”

Of course, the 31-year-old, born in France, was probably referring to the best-known mantra that talent does not guarantee success and the importance of a strong mentality as an athlete.

Fans, however, interpreted his message slightly differently and are cracking up at the midfielder’s unintentional suggestion that he had 10 per cent talent.

One fan joked: “Did Doucoure just say ‘yeah I suck tbf’.”

“Self-awareness,” said another supporter.

A third joked: “Me at karaoke.”

Doucoure has made 32 appearances this season in all competitions, scoring six goals and registering one assist in that time to help the Toffees move to safety in the Premier League.

Speaking about his team’s victory and survival in the Premier League, Everton boss Sean Dyche said: “We haven’t had an easy journey, and I’m very proud of that.

Everton fan Conor leaves the Sports Bar in a huff with a hilarious new Liverpool song and asks Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara to join in.

“The blows keep coming for me too – this job is not as it was offered to me or what happened.

“To refocus on the new job at hand, I was happy with that and how we handled it.”
