Tyson Fury has revealed he has offered Anthony Joshua a 60/40 purse for their potential fight later this year.
The WBC world heavyweight champion unexpectedly called his fellow Brit on Monday and offered him a shot at winning his world title before the end of 2022.
Joshua publicly accepted the proposal on social media, saying he would be willing to drop plans for comeback fights after his losses to Oleksandr Usyk if Fury is serious.
AJ promoter Eddie Hearn joined talkSPORT on Tuesday morning and expressed his doubts, but insisted they would fight if a serious and acceptable offer was received.
Then Fury’s promoter Frank Warren joined talkSPORT shortly after and announced he would submit a “very fair” offer later today.
Warren chose not to discuss the financial terms, but the Gypsy King has now taken to social media to reveal them himself.
Fury said in a video: “Hey guys, quick, I’m being bombarded with messages about how much am I going to pay AJ?
“Everyone says 80/20, 70/30, 75/25.
“The real answer is that I offered him 60/40.
“40% of this amazing fight, because I want this fight to happen.
“He has no more excuses now not to take it. He can’t say that I belittled him and offered him 20% or 30%.
“I offered people 40%. Take it or leave it, let us know.
Fury added in a separate comment: “I offered him 60/40, that’s more than fair. I want this fight to happen.
“He’ll never get a better offer. Direct hit WBC, the ball is in your court @AnthonyJoshua.
Warren earlier told talkSPORT: “We are sending them a written offer today, my son George spoke with Eddie Hearn yesterday.
“We were the ones who made the approach to give AJ a great opportunity to get back to the top level against world champion Tyson.
“He is ready to make this voluntary defense, so we will send the offer today and then they will have to look at it and decide if they want to take this with both hands.
Asked when that fight will be, Warren replied, “In the UK and hopefully in November, that’s what we’re looking at.”
