A police officer and a sheriff’s deputy were killed Sunday evening following a shooting in upstate New York.

The incident took place near Darien Drive in Salina, just outside Syracuse, where officers were responding to reports of a stolen vehicle.

During the investigation, shots were fired and a Syracuse officer was injured along with another Onondaga County Sheriff’s officer.

Onondaga County Sheriff Toby Shelley said one person at the home was injured while another was taken into custody.

Sheriff Shelley said both officers were in critical condition, with sources since telling Syracuse.com that both had died.
