Sydney Sweeney Paired Tiny Shorts With a Giant Blazer

If there’s one thing Sydney Sweeney just can’t stand, it’s pants. Okay, yes, obviously she wears them sometimes, but lately she’s opted to show off as much leg as possible. In fact, in and around wearing a glamorous princess ball gown by Miu Miu to the Met Gala, the Euphoria The actress avoided pants altogether. Ahead of the event, she stepped out in New York in a fitted dark denim jacket, with nothing but a tiny pair of short shorts peeking out underneath. Then, yesterday, she opted for a Miu Miu ensemble consisting of a fitted striped crop top and matching shorts – or should we say boxers? Call them what you want, either way, it’s clear that Sweeney is totally committed to the no-pants trend.

Last night, Sweeney appeared in another pantsless look while out in Gramercy. She paired her tiny animal print shorts with a high crew neck gray shirt and an ultra oversized shimmering silver blazer. She completed the look with a pair of sheer white knee high socks, white heels and a large white handbag that she carried under her arm. She wore her hair in a casual low bun and completed her look with a pair of round sunglasses (and, yes, she wore them at night).

This look revolved around the intentionally unbalanced silhouette created by the wide shoulder pads at the top and bare legs below. Trust Sweeney to give us a new take on the no-pants trend that’s literally perfect for a night out on the town.

Sweeney may have worn the look to celebrate yesterday’s announcement that she has been cast as famous 1980s American boxer Christy Martin in a biopic directed by David Michôd. “I fought and kickedboxed between the ages of 12 and 19,” Sweeney told Deadline. “I couldn’t wait to get back in the ring, train and transform my body. Christy’s story is not light, it is physically and emotionally demanding, there is a lot of weight to carry. But I I like to challenge myself.”

She added: “Christy Martin not only legitimized women’s boxing, she overcame gender stereotypes and fought against emotional, physical and financial abuse. I’m passionate about the world of fighting, Christy’s story highlights her incredible rise to the top while showing the struggles of glory behind the curtains. I feel compelled to tell the story of a woman who faced so much adversity and did not let it defeat her. It’s powerful and moving.
