A sword-wielding attacker hospitalized five people, including two police officers, in east London on Tuesday morning after crashing his van into a house and stabbing people apparently at random.
Police responded to reports that a man crashed his vehicle into a house in Thurlow Gardens just before 7am and stabbed several people, including two police officers.
A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken into custody, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
“We do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the wider community. We are not looking for other suspects. This incident does not appear to be terrorism-related,” Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan said in the statement.
A witness to the horrific attack described seeing a man “running around with a samurai sword” who “stabbed four people after ramming his van into a house”, according to the Telegraph.
Police did not share the conditions of those hospitalized.
