Swiftie couple recreates Taylor Swift album covers

Two married Swifties set out on a mission to recreate everything Taylor Swiftthe album covers after the singer announced her new record “The Department of Tortured Poets” at the Grammys in February.

Charlie Bird – the “major Swiftie” of the two, according to her husband Ryan Clifford – came up with the idea after Swift made the surprise announcement by agreeing. Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.

The project is a continuation of what the couple did for Halloween last year: dressing up as Swift and her boyfriend Travis Kelce. Charlie shaved his head and Ryan had painstakingly recreated the red “Reputation” suit that Swift wore on her four-day Eras tour – with glitter galore.

They documented the project on their YouTube page and when they posted the final results on social media, their followers loved it.

“And they loved seeing Ryan as Taylor Swift,” Charlie told CBS News, to which Ryan responded with a laugh, “They love seeing me make a fool of myself.”

In 11 posts on their Instagram accounts, the couple talks about the 16 years of their career. From his debut album “Taylor Swift,” released in 2006, to his latest album, the two men spend a few days preparing for each shoot – putting together each outfit from new clothes or what they already own and creating scenery or searching for nearby locations. recreate the looks.

Otherwise, it’s just them, a ring light and an iPhone, Charlie said. It takes six to eight hours a day, he says, to complete an album cover.

“She went through a lot of different looks and hairstyles,” Charlie said. “Every day we do our best to recreate that in a way that, in an authentic way, makes him sound more like Taylor Swift.”

“We’re just lucky that we have long, curly hair, which makes it versatile,” Ryan replied as her husband laughed.

Husbands say Swift’s popularity is due to her lyrics, which, in a word, are relevant. Charlie, a clinical therapist, said he has clients who use his songs to help them describe how they are feeling.

“It’s just a perfect example of how she became so important to so many people, because she kind of taught us — as a generation — how to connect with sensations,” Charlie said.

And Ryan, a digital marketer, wholeheartedly agrees – adding that it’s also an ambitious goal.

“She just has this incredible mind that comes up with these lyrics,” he said. “But at the end of the day, she’s just a girl, you know? And we’re all like, ‘Oh, she’s a girl. She’s going through this.'”

The couple attended two concerts last year during the Eras tour. Charlie told CBS News it was like a journey through his own adolescence. “1989,” he says, is the perfect pop album.

“I love strutting around to ‘Style,'” he said, not to neglect his other music. “There’s something about the whole ‘Reputation’ thing that’s just…powerful.”

What would Charlie do if he met Swift? Aside from freaking out, of course, Ryan joked with her husband.

“I hope I have the composure to be calm,” Charlie replied with a laugh. “It’s truly been amazing to watch her grow, take on challenges and become more resilient because of them.”

“I am grateful that she was willing to share this creative gift and it has inspired me to be more creative and more in touch with myself.”

The two were excited to recreate the new album, with Charlie noting that it’s probably the funnest for Ryan to do.

“There’s going to be a lot of laughter – at my expense,” Ryan said with a laugh.
