A SWAT standoff in Upland ended after the suspect’s home caught fire and burned.

The incident began around 3:15 p.m. when authorities attempted to execute a search warrant in the 1500 block of Fairwood Way, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. When law enforcement approached the home, a suspect shot at the officers.

No one was injured, but the ensuing confrontation continued for several hours until around 9:30 p.m., when the suspect’s house caught fire and burned.

Deputies said law enforcement attempted to enter the building after deploying tear gas. They exchanged gunfire with the suspect again and said he set off explosives inside the home.

The Upland Police Department, which assisted officers, said the suspect came out of the burning home. The authorities shot him.

Several sources indicated that the suspect was dead.
