Police on Friday afternoon killed a man who was suspected of having stabbed a woman near a primary school in North Hollywood, the authorities announced.
The Los Angeles Police Service responded to a report on an ongoing domestic violence incident in the 7,800 block on Beck Avenue around 1:54 p.m. on arrival, the police found a woman with stab wounds, the authorities said.
The police confronted and finally shot the male suspect, according to the LAPD. The exact circumstances leading to the shooting were not immediately clear on Friday evening.
The man and the woman were taken to local hospitals where they died of their injuries, police said. Their identities were not released.
Students played out in primary school near Arminta Street when violence took place, according to KTLA reports. Students and staff rushed inside after hearing shots and the school was placed on locking, the station reported.
“When my wife called me, she was panicking,” said Walter Lorete, a local resident at the station. “She had heard the shots in the street. She fled and the children all fled, panicked and it was just scary. ”
This is the 12th time that a person has been struck by LAPD shots this year, according to the police archives.
