After a car chase in Charlestown on Tuesday afternoon, Boston police and Massachusetts State Police are still searching for a suspect who crashed his car near the Tobin Bridge and then fled on foot , the department said in a statement Tuesday.

At approximately 12:27 p.m. Tuesday, police attempted to arrest a Charlestown real estate development suspect described as a 6-foot, 190-pound black man with long black dreads, who they believe had a suspended driver’s license and several arrest warrants. .

The suspect, who Boston Globe reports was driving a green Dodge Charger GT, fled from police and eventually crashed into a railing on Terminal St., damaging the front left side of the vehicle. The suspect then got out of his car and ran to a large warehouse located at 200 Terminal St.

Boston police and Massachusetts State Police, a Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team and a K9 unit were unable to locate the suspect during a search of the warehouse, which ended around 4 p.m.

Officers found a gun inside the abandoned vehicle and an additional weapon at 200 Terminal St. The globe reports that police began clearing the scene around 4 p.m.
