A third joked: “The only thing that prevents this from being the most creaky thing of all time is that it is cute”.
While another concluded, “that smile just healed my soul.”
Bueckers helped Uconn end his league drought during a 82-59 victory against South Carolina on Sunday.
In what was only the second appearance of the program’s titles match since 2016, the Huskies prevented the Dawn Staley group from winning their third title in four years.
Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong both paved the way with 24 points, while Bueckers – expected to be the overall choice n ° 1 of the WNBA draft this month – also had 17 points and six rebounds.
The trio came out of the game with around 90 seconds remaining while the crowd of Tampa gave them a massive ovation and Paige shared a hug with its coach Geno Auriemma.
“I love him, that’s all I can say,” he said about ESPN when he was asked for the moment.
This league drought – nine years – was the longest for Auriemma and its Huskies since the team won its first championship in 1995 led by Rebecca Lobo.
The attention turns to the male final on Monday evening when Florida faces Houston in San Antonio. The Gators are -118 favorites with Fanduel.
