Super Meat Boy 3D announced an release in early 2026

Super Meat Boy returned in all his bloody glory to the window of Xbox games today, in the disclosure of Super Meat Boy 3D. This is exactly what it looks like: a Super Meat Boy 3D game, and it happens on Xbox, PlayStation and PC at the beginning of 2026.

Today’s trailer looks like what exactly says about the tin: it is a quick and bloody gameplay through short and pointed obstacle courses full of machines that can tear a little guy from meat. Meat Boy brings back through them, leaving a trailer of, uh, meat juice, wherever he landed, with physics walls and tight jump windows. But of course, everything is in a 3D world instead of a 2D space, which will probably dramatically change the functioning of the platform, where you can go, and the types of challenges placed in front of you.

Meat Boy started as a 2008 flash game created by Edmund McMillen and Jonathan McENTEe who has since grown with the later outing of Super Meat Boy a few years later. Super Meat Boy is an ultra-dure platform game for its tight and precise platform and its quick reappearances on short cards that allow players to try again and again without any stop time. The games are notoriously gorey, since the main character is essentially made of meat and continues to slam in meat crushers.

A suite of Super Meat Boy, Super Meat Boy Forever, was published in 2020 without the involvement of McMillen. We do not know if McMillen is involved in this 3D interpretation.

Oddly, there was a Warp Green Mario pipe showed at the start of the trailer, despite the moment of Super Meat Boy 3D for a Nintendo console for the moment, and it is an Xbox showcase. No explanation for this for the moment.
