Suns acquire three first-round picks from Jazz, sources say

The Phoenix Suns are trading their 2031 first-round pick to the Utah Jazz for three first-round picks, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

The trade gives the Suns the opportunity to triple their first-round cap allocation as the franchise continues to improve its roster, such as Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler. Butler, who requested a trade from the Heat earlier this month, counts the Suns among his preferred trade destinations, sources said.

The Suns acquire the less favorable firsts in 2025 from Cleveland/Minnesota, 2027 from Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah and 2029 from Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah, sources said.

The Suns’ aggressive approach unlocks their next six draft picks and splits their only tradeable 2031 prime into a prime three. For 2025, the Suns will likely have Cleveland’s first-round pick.

The Jazz consolidate their first-round picks acquired in the Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell trades in 2022. Including Phoenix’s unprotected opener in 2031, Utah now has 11 first-round picks over the next seven years.
