Open studios
The artists of Sunnyvale Barbara Pease and Pragati Sharma Mohanty are among the more than 340 visual artists of the Bay of San Francisco and the coastal communities opening their studios and galleries to the public this month. They participate in the last weekend of Silicon Valley Open Studios.
Pease obtained a bachelor’s degree in fine metallic arts and started working with water-based media in the early 1990s, showing his watercolors across the country. Now a silk painter, Pease teaches workshops and has exhibited his work at the International International Festival of Silk Painters.
Artist, architect and industrial designer, Moisséy rediscovers and reinterprets the Hindu epic poem “Ramayana”, which tells the story of Rama, an incarnation of the god Vishnu, and his journey to defeat the demon Ravana and save his wife Sita. She compiles her 75 paintings based on stories from the old Indian text in a coffee table book.
They and other South Bay artists will open their workspaces on Saturday and Sunday May 17-18, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. To see an interactive map of artists’ locations and see a gallery of participating artists, visit https://svos.org.
