On Friday, “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin denounced the Supreme Court, saying Americans have the “freedom to die of COVID” but not to vote or read novelist Toni Morrison’s work.

The Supreme Court on Thursday issued mixed rulings in two cases challenging the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccination mandates, allowing the requirement for some healthcare workers to go into effect while blocking enforcement one mandate for businesses with 100 or more employees.

The latter mandate, an Occupational Safety and Health Administration rule that went into effect Monday, said companies with at least 100 employees must require workers to get vaccinated or tested weekly and wear a mask. The High Court ruled that OSHA had no power to impose such a mandate because the statute that created OSHA “empowers the Secretary to establish workplace safety standards, not general safety measures. public health”.

The divisive topic was discussed at ABC’s daytime gabfest where Joy Behar pointed out that the same court “which appears to be on the right track to rule that women can be forced to carry a child to term will not allow a warrant” for COVID vaccines.

Hostin was particularly angered and called the decision a “direct result of the conservative majority” of the Supreme Court.

“It’s also the result of the hypocrisy of the Republican Party filibustering and now having three Supreme Court justices who are conservative. They changed the rules for that, but they won’t change the rules for the right to vote,” she said.

“While it’s no surprise, it highlights their hypocrisy… so I say to Americans, I hope you value your freedoms because it’s based on freedom, isn’t it? The concept of freedom, so now you have the freedom to get COVID,” Hostin continued. “You have the freedom to die from COVID… you don’t have the freedom to vote, you don’t have the freedom to read Toni Morrison, and women don’t have the freedom to choose their own bodies.”

(Morrison’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, “Beloved,” has been at the center of the debate over what should be taught in schools.)

Behar replied that it was “time to make some changes” to the court.
