The Belgian manager won four Premier League titles and six domestic cups during 11 hugely successful years with Man City.

However, one of the biggest honors of his collection was returning Burnley to the Premier League in 2023.

After winning two Belgian Pro League titles with Anderlecht, Kompany was named head coach of the Clarets in the summer of 2022 and given the immediate task of returning the club to the top flight.

After 10 years under Sean Dyche – a manager renowned for his defensive resilience and strong organizational skills – Kompany was tasked with rebranding the Clarets into an exciting, attack-minded team.

He certainly did that by leading his Burnley side to the league title in his debut season with 87 goals scored and 101 points on the board.

In a moment that Burnley fans will long remember, the Clarets clinched the title after a 1-0 victory over arch rivals Blackburn at Ewood Park.

Celebrating their success, a brawl broke out between the two sets of players after the full-time whistle, leading to Kompany pulling midfielder Jack Cork out of trouble.

He then had to intervene when Josh Brownhill taunted Blackburn fans by repeatedly lifting an inflatable trophy in front of them, much to the dismay of the home supporters.

With Brownhill receiving plenty of sticks from Blackburn fans, Kompany stepped in to pull the midfielder away before raising his hand to apologize to his rivals’ supporters.

The Belgian coach knows the Bundesliga well having spent two seasons at Hamburg before joining Man City in 2008.

His knowledge of German football – as well as his attacking style of football and his Champions League experience – has clearly ticked many boxes for Bayern.

As part of his role, Kompany will be tasked with leading the club in their domestic clashes with rivals Borussia Dortmund, including in front of the famous yellow wall at the Westfalenstadion.

While there is no doubt about the 38-year-old’s desire to come out on top in such crucial encounters, you can be sure that Kompany will carry himself with the same class as that night at Ewood Park when he will travel to the Dortmund technical area. .
