Study links strength training to lower risk of knee arthritis

According to a recent study, people with a history of strength training were 23% less likely to have symptomatic knee arthritis than those who did not engage in this activity.

According to the researchers, based at various universities, the findings suggest “that strength training is associated with better knee health.” They hypothesize that strength training could prevent osteoarthritis through improved biomechanics, reduced risk of injury, better weight maintenance, and improved or preserved mobility.
