Mail Sport exclusively revealed on Tuesday that Forest’s request is expected to be met by the referees’ governing body and that PGMOL chief Howard Webb will discuss one of three topics on this week’s Referees Mic’d Up program next.

But Attwell will retain his place on the Premier League fixture list as planned on Saturday, with the Premier League confirming he will be the on-field official for Fulham’s home game against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Attwell will be joined by assistant referees James Mainwaring and Marc Perry, while Michael Salisbury and Neil Davies will take on VAR and assistant VAR duties respectively.

The FA itself is set to launch an investigation into questioning Attwell’s integrity in Forest’s explosive statement on Sunday.

The club’s message on X, formerly Twitter, read. : ‘Three extremely bad decisions – three penalties not given – that we simply cannot accept.

“We warned the PGMOL that the VAR was a Luton fan before the match but they did not change it. Our patience was tested on several occasions. The NFCC will now consider their options.
