Steven Gerrard is said to be on the list of Rangers candidates to become their next manager, three and a half years after leaving Ibrox to take charge of Aston Villa.
The 44 -year -old man, who led the Rangers as Scottish Premiership in 2021, has been unemployed since his departure from the Saudi club Al ettifaq in January.
He had previously directed Villa in a disappointing fate of 40 games after his successful passage in Scotland.
According to the Telegraph, Gerrard is one of the many names under study while the rangers intensify their search for a long -term successor by Philippe Clement.
The acting boss Barry Ferguson remains in charge with three games to do in the season, but the club should make a permanent appointment before the summer.
The restricted list would contain at least 10 potential candidates. Gerrard is joined by three other former Premier League managers: Gary O’Neil, who left Wolves in December; Rob Edwards, who took care of Luton Town in the 2023-24 campaign elite; And Russell Martin, who started the season as Boss de Southampton before being dismissed after supervising a single victory in 16 games.

Gerrard was filmed last week by professing his love for Rangers in a viral video filmed during an evening.
In a clip that has been widely broadcast on social networks, Gerrard was joking with a fan via a video call. Gerrard said: “We F *** Ing Love Rangers. F *** Debbie, I love Rangers.
Gerrard managed the Rangers from 2018 to 2021, ending the long reign of Celtic with an undefeated season of the League and ending 25 points clearly at the top.
He left in November 2021 to take over at Aston Villa but lasted a little less than a year before being dismissed in October 2022.
The legend of Liverpool then moved to Al Ettifaq in July 2023, but was dismissed in January with the 12th sitting team in the Saudi table Pro.
The Rangers are preparing early for the 2025-20126 campaign, the American takeover of the club led by the 49ers Enterprises near the completion.
