The coach of the Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr, exasperated supporters of Donald Trump by promising his support for Harvard in the middle of the growing quarrel with the president.
Kerr, who trained the American male Olympic team to a gold medal in Paris last summer, brought a T-shirt to Harvard at his press conference after the Warriors beat Memphis’ grizzles earlier this week.
The Trump administration launched a largely condemned repression against major American universities, notably Harvard, on pro-Palestinian campus demonstrations and a range of other cultural war problems such as transgender rights and diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
Trump is furious against the legendary institution to reject the supervision of the government of its admissions, hiring practices and political inclination and ordered freezing of $ 2.2 billion in federal funding at Harvard this week.
Asked about his choice of choice, Kerr, well known for his liberal opinions and a supporter of Kamala Harris in last year’s elections, said: “ It is crucial that all our institutions can manage their own business as they wish.
“They shouldn’t be shaken and say what to teach, what to say by our government. Bravo, way to withstand the intimidator.

Fans rushed on social networks to explode Kerr’s support at Harvard, some accusing him of having spread “liberal garbage”.
A fan wrote: “Steve Kerr is the perfect representation of the kind of liberal waste that comes out of institutions like Harvard!”
Another posted: “Kerr is not a supporter of Harvard. He’s a hateful trump. Has always been.
“No one likes the NBA and their opinions – just coaching the guys to dribble,” said another.
One said: “Kerr is the type of person who reads 1 page of a book and says he knows the story.”
“Very good by me. Harvard can do what they want. No need to give taxpayers money. Complete stop, another added to the debate.
A user added: “Yes, he can manage business as he wishes, but not if he obtains funding from the federal government”.
Trump called for Harvard a “joke” on Wednesday and said that she should lose her government research contracts.
He also threatened to prohibit the legendary institution from admitting foreign students unless it bows to requirements, in the midst of reports, the officials planned to revoke the status of tax exemption from the university.
“Harvard can no longer be considered a place of decent learning and should not be taken into account on any list of major universities or colleges of the world,” said Trump on his social platform for truth.
“Harvard is a joke, teaches hatred and stupidity, and should no longer receive federal funds.”

The Ministry of Internal Security also canceled $ 2.7 million in research subsidies at Harvard and threatened the University’s ability to register international students unless it restores the files of “illegal and violent activities”.
“If Harvard cannot verify that he is in full compliance with his declaration requirements, the university will lose the privilege of the registration of foreign students,” said a statement from the DHS, with secretary Kristi Noem accusing the University of “folding the knee to anti -Semitism”.
International students represented 27.2% of Harvard registrations this academic year, according to his website.
Other institutions, including Columbia University, bowed against less extensive requests from the Trump administration, which claims that the educational elite is too left.
Harvard categorically rejected the pressure, its president, Alan Garber, saying that the University refuses to “negotiate its independence or its constitutional rights”.
