Steph Curry, who calls himself a “Christian,” supports Kamala Harris in defending abortion rights, despite having nearly had an abortion himself

NBA star Steph Curry insisted that supporting Kamala Harris was not a “difficult” decision because Harris supports abortion. This is despite Curry’s past statements that he is a committed Christian, not to mention the revelation that his mother nearly had an abortion while pregnant with him.

Curry appeared on CNBC on Wednesday and was asked if his appearance at last month’s Democratic convention was a “difficult” decision. The player, however, said it was actually an easy decision. When the CNBC host asked him what his main issues were, he cited abortion as the top issue, according to Mediaite.

“I know women’s rights are important and I think about what’s at stake in this election,” Curry responded. “I understand that we need to be in a position where women have the right to choose what’s right for them. And that’s at the top of my list.”

Curry appeared in a video released at the convention in Chicago, where he told worshipers: “I believe that Kamala, as president, will bring back that unity and continue to move our country forward.”

Regardless, Curry’s focus on abortion is odd, given his claims that he became a seriously committed Christian when he became an adult and started a family.

“I put the believer first because that’s supposed to be the foundation of everything I do as a believer, as a husband, as a father, and so on,” Curry said in 2019, according to Faith Wire.

“For me, faith is believing in the unseen and having the conviction that there is a higher power that has given me a purpose for what I do on this earth. For me, it is the foundation of how I live my life and how I want to see the world through that lens,” he added.

Curry’s stance on Harris and her radical abortion policies is also odd since his own mother said in 2022 that she almost had an abortion and ended Steph’s life before she was even born.

When she made her revelation, she attributed it to God, the The New York Post reported at the time.

“God puts it all together and shows me how to say, ‘Hey, here’s this decision that I made at that time, and look at the blessing that it became,’ and I just thank God for it and I just tell God that it was meant to be,” Curry said. “And to not be judgmental. You don’t have to be judgmental forever. Let’s give ourselves a little grace by making the decision with what we had to make when we made it. But, my favorite Bible passage says that all things work together for good, and those who are called according to his purposes praise Jesus. It all worked out. There’s Stephen, and look what he does, and it’s just amazing to me.”

Despite all this, Steph Curry believes that preserving abortion rights is the most important issue in this election.
