Steph Curry deplores the injuries of the hamstrings, the loss of Warriors against Timberwolves

San Francisco – This is the question that will keep Stephen Curry at night this summer.

“It’s the big” What if? ” “Curry reflected Thursday morning inside the original arena of the Warriors, where the only signs of life were the WNBA Valkyries preparing for their first season game. The Warriors season finished Wednesday evening with Curry unable to do something other than watch.

“It’s difficult, guy. This is a first for me,” said Curry, reflecting on his helpless point of view for the last four games – all defeats – after having set out his left hamstrings in the first half of match 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who qualified for the West Conference final with a 121-110 victory.

“To sit on the touch, it’s weird,” he continued. “You want you to be there to be able to do something.” But it was simply not in the cards this year.… All we wanted was a chance, and to finish the year like us, to sneak in the playoffs and win this first round, there is a lot to be proud, considering where we were.

“But really disappointed, and frankly sad that I was unable to play.”

Without their main offensive weapon, the Warriors simply lacked firepower against the Timberwolves, who obtained at least 20 points from Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle in four of the five games in the series and were detained below 100 once – in the Warriors victory alone.

The absence of Curry, in particular for the match in Do-ou-Die, and the inability of the Warriors to win a victory without him on the field were made more atrocious by the proximity of his return. If Golden State could have forced a match 6, Curry would have had three additional days before what would have been a home game on Sunday.

“Everything was sort of aligned for match 6,” he said. “I had tests to do, and who knows how it would have gone because I have not been put online since the match 1. The first time with this injury. I was quite optimistic, but there were a few other checkpoints to pass. ”

It was a mixed bag of emotions inside the Bill King media room when the Warriors treated the end of their season. On the one hand, they have fulfilled Curry’s declared reason to play “significant” basketball. They played more deeply in the playoffs that anyone could have considered before the acquisition of Jimmy Butler III. On the other hand, an outing in the second round lacked what they thought possible with the trio of Curry, Butler and Draymond Green.

The Warriors started 12-3, then lost 12 of their next 15 games. They wobbled towards the 10th seeded and the possibility of the game – or completely lacked the playoffs – before the deadline for trade. But after being eliminated with health preventing Butler from playing his full potential and Curry to play, Kerr was clear about the potential he had seen in the group.

With a healthy curry, Kerr said: “I know we had a hit. I know we could have taken the distance. ”

The group ended the regular season 23-7 before their health catches up with them, and Curry echoes a similar feeling.

“This is the story that you are going to tell yourself when you put your head on the pillow every evening for the next two weeks until the one who wins the championship because it is the conviction that we had,” he said. “We imagine and believe that we could have won everything if we were in good health. But you advance. “

For the future, summer and next season, Curry and Green both noted that the addition of Butler in the middle of the season gives them much more clarity than in the context of this season, when they would be involved in any potential package for Curry which has become available.

The objective for Curry, who has no Olympic commitment to maintain, will be to rest and recover. For the director general Mike Dunleavy and the front office, the offseason will be focused on the adjustments of the support distribution of the basic trio.

When they are in good health, Curry, Butler and Green have shown what they were capable of in the last 30 games of the regular season.

“When September takes place and there are 29 teams that have ended their year disappointed in a way or a form or form that is delighted to make a charge as we want to be as confident as possible when you arrive next year, and I think that window … it meant something,” said Curry. “It was real.

“I injured myself in match 1; Obviously, it has changed a lot. But we have a lot to do, once again, proud and a lot to build for next year. ”

Come back for updates.
