“We knew before (their choice came),” said Khan. “It was easy. We took it.”
The Steelers will not hesitate to take a quarter of the first round if and when the opportunity arises. But they don’t reach either to take a fair to take one.
Maybe Sanders, Dart or other quarters of this project will prove to be good beginners. But the Steelers had evaluated Harmon higher on their dashboard.
• One thing that seems to be overlooked many times, this offseason was added by the Steelers of the DK Metcalf Large receiver with their second round choice as part of a package with the Seahawks.
But there were only three wide receivers taken in the first round of this project, two of which – Tetairoa McMillan of Arizona and Emeka Ebbuka of Ohio State – which had already been selected when the Steelers made their choice.
If Prospect DK Metcalf was available in this project, he would have been the first selected. As it stands, the Steelers did not have to guess if he turned into a good player. They already know that it is.
And they had it in the second round.
• With five remaining choices during the last two days of the project, the Steelers still have needs.
“You don’t need to be a rocket specialist to understand them,” Khan said on Steelers Nation Radio.
Adding to the room on the back, maybe the selection of another defensive line player and the young quarter-Arrière gets camp is among them.
But even if they do not get some of these things in the project, the free agency will warm up again this weekend ended.
With the draft here, the veterans of the veterans who are real free agents – the players on expired contracts – no longer count against the compensatory choice of the NFL. The players who have been released by their old teams do not take into account at all in this equation.
There will be a market for players for teams that still have holes they have not filled. There could also be additional veteran players who join these ranks in the coming weeks while the teams adapt their lists after the draft.
