“Fit perfect, whatever the racing scheme you run. It ran several at Iowa. Really impressive as a volume runner during the game, and one of the most impressive statistics you have seen is the fourth quarter – what it has on average in the fourth quarter. I think it was more than five meters per postponement. Perhaps closer to six.
“We believe that it is a great adjustment of culture. Obviously, extremely excited to bring Kaleb to enter here.”
Johnson met the Steelers during a pre-Rôti visit to the UPMC Rooney sports complex and felt a level of comfort with the team from the start.
“It was great from the jump,” said Johnson. “As soon as I entered, they welcomed me. Me and (running back) Coach (Eddie) Faulkner, we talked from heart to heart. Me and he know what we have to do now to go out in mind. I will give them everything.
“Mike Tomlin in general, he told me that he loved me as a player, and he wants me to come. I told him to do it. It was all in the hands of God. That’s all I can say.”
Johnson appeared in 35 games, from 22 years old, for the Hawkeyes. He wore the ball 508 times for 2,779 yards and 30 affected for his career. Johnson also had 29 receptions for 240 yards and two affected.
Johnson said he was ready for the workload that presents himself to him in the Steelers offense and that she is ready to start.
“I have the impression that in general, the relationship with the players, learning from coach Faulkner,” said Johnson. “Me and Jaylen Warren, we are going to be good together.
“I can’t wait to work. I’m excited right now.”
Johnson became the 17th player in school history to rush for more than 2,000 yards and was the 51st player in school history to rush for more than 1,000 career yards. He also became the fifth player in Iowa history to record two ground games of more than 200 yards.
In addition, he has more than more ground matches of more yards, which ranks sixth in the history of the school.
In 2024, he appeared in 12 games, from 11 years old, and had 240 races for 1,537 yards and 21 affected, all career summits.
