Tomlin said that what was going on in the draft and where the team could select a quarter-rear could affect the team’s movements in the acquisition of a veteran starter, not only to this position, but also others.
“I think what you do in a project often affects an acquisition of talents that occurs afterwards,” said Tomlin. “We will see how the acquisition takes place this weekend.”
The Steelers did their homework on the quarter-Arrière class of 2025, bringing four to Pittsburgh for pre-Rôti and attending the professional days of several others. Their 30 pre-Rôti visits also relied heavily on the ball carrier and the defensive line positions, which represented more than half of the prospects they brought.
“I think it is a credit to the depth of these positions,” said Khan. “And for us, it is important to get to know these guys as much as possible and to really sort the way we stack these guys and that we take these guys. But I think it is a reflection of the depth of these positions.
“This gives you options, knowing that there are good players you know in these positions. You know that there are options at different times in the project where you can acquire these guys.”
While acknowledging that there is depth in the quarter -tree, the defensive line and the race in this project – perhaps the biggest needs of the team – Khan and Tomlin also declared that even if the team had a certain interest for the trade, it will not do if there was a player available, the team has a strong desire to acquire.
“You never really want to exchange away from a very good player who can help you and is the right guy for us,” said Khan. “As we arrive on Thursday, we have identified some guys from which we will not exchange. And it is just that it is sort of how it worked. You know, a few years ago, we exchanged to get Brooderick (Jones). He was the guy we wanted, and you know, now we are open.”
But, without a second round choice this year, going up this year, as Khan has mentioned, may not be a realistic business.
“We are still open,” said Tomlin. “But because we are doing our due diligence, there is often someone who really excited us. And so I think it remains the same this year. We are ready to go up. We are ready to come back. We have made our simulations beyond 21 for such scenarios, but especially in recent years, if my memory has been correct, it is always people who have really excited us when we are easy to do when we are easy to do when we are. really done work, and it’s easy
