State agents: “Stay at home”

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – State troopers are telling residents in central and south Alabama to “stay home” during the winter forecast.

“If you don’t need to be on the road, stay home,” Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Hal Taylor said in a statement Sunday evening.

A low pressure system moving away from the Gulf in frigid air could bring several inches of snow that would likely extend south to Florida on Tuesday.

If the snow freezes — and that’s the biggest concern — roads could become impassable and thousands of people could lose power.

“Reducing unnecessary travel in unsafe conditions is crucial to preventing accidents,” Taylor said.
