Stanford hires the former NFL coach, Frank Reich, to direct the program on a provisional basis after the dismissal of Troy Taylor, according to Matt Zenitz of 247sports. Reich joins the cardinal on a one -year agreement with Stanford who should launch national research after the 2025 season.
Stanford also promotes the Treated end coach Nate Byham to the attacking coordinator in a corresponding decision, according to ESPN. Byham, 36, a former close end to Pittsburgh, begins his third season to Stanford staff.
It also serves as a meeting for the director general of Reich and Stanford, Andrew Luck; Reich led to luck with the Indianapolis colts for a season in 2018.
Stanford gives Reich his first opportunity as a college coach, although he brings more than 17 years of experience as a professional assistant and head coach. Reich, a former quarter of Maryland and NFL, obtained his first opportunity as a head coach with the colts in 2018.
From 2018-22, Reich guided the colts to a record of 40-33-1 with three winning seasons and two appearances in the NFL qualifiers. Reich passed the 2023 seasons with the Panthers of Caroline, where he was dismissed after a start of 1-10 in the countryside. Reich has not actively trained since.
Before moving to Indianapolis, Reich was the offensive coordinator of then San Diego (2014-15) and Eagles from Philadelphia (2016-17). In 2017, he helped Eagles win their first Super Bowl in the history of the franchise.
Stanford dismissed Taylor on March 25, less than a week after revealing that university investigations discovered that he had mistreated employees, according to documents obtained by ESPN. The decision was announced by chance.

“After continuous consideration, it is obvious to me that our program needs reset,” Luck said in a press release. “In consultation with university leadership, I no longer believe that coach Taylor is the right coach to lead our football program. The coach Taylor has been informed today and the change is in force immediately.”
Lucks transforms to a familiar face
Given his leading role in Taylor’s dismissal, there is no doubt that luck had his word to name Reich as an immediate successor. Luck and Reich become familiar, although their time together in the NFL is relatively limited.
Luck was in its seventh and, finally, the last season with the Colts when Reich was hired in 2018. Luck, who was selected by Indianapolis in Stanford with the first overall choice of the NFL 2012 draft, missed all the 2017 season while the rehabilitation of a shoulder injury.
During his only year under Reich, he was able to return to the action and started the 16 games of the regular season while launching 4,593 yards and 39 affected and by displaying a 98.7 smuggling note. He was appointed return player of the year of the NFL and won the fourth selection of Pro Bowl in his career.
Luck initially decided to return in 2019, but in August, less than a month before the start of the season, he announced his retirement from football due to growing injuries and a rehabilitation cycle. Reich won only at least 10 games in one season after following Luck’s decision to move away from football.
