Stacy McKay and Dino Tripodis Share Their Response to Being Taken Off the Air on Sunny 95

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Sunny 95’s longtime morning radio hosts are leaving the airwaves after a series of personnel changes within the Columbus Radio Group.

Stacy McKay and Dino Tripodis will no longer host the morning radio show at Sunny 95. The duo was each on their second stint at the station after starting in the ’90s. As of Thursday morning, the couple’s morning show had been removed from Sunny 95’s website. In a Facebook post Wednesday, McKay confirmed his departure but did not share his future plans.

“All good things must come to an end,” McKay said in a message. “It’s the most incredible adventure a girl could dream of!” Thank you for letting me join you each morning on your way to work/school! »

Tripodis, for his part, told NBC4 that he was jumping straight into producing “Down to the Felt,” a film he co-wrote and which he called “the greatest independent film ever made in Columbus. Details can be found on a website created for the film. Tripodis also expressed gratitude to members of his radio audience over the years.

“Thank you Columbus for allowing me to be a part of your daily life for 30 years,” Tripodis said. “I look forward to the opportunity to continue to be in your life with any future opportunities that may come my way. I may have started somewhere, but I’m far from finished.

The duo’s departure comes amid multiple personnel changes within Columbus Radio Group. Clark Donley, the cluster’s longtime news director, and producer Greg Hansberry are also leaving the morning show, according to radioinsight.com.

“Andre Styles” Friedrich, Mix 107.9 morning host and cluster events director, is also leaving the airwaves. By Thursday morning, Friedrich’s show had been removed from Mix 107.9’s website. He personally announced in an Instagram post that he would be leaving after 14 years at Saga Communications – the broadcast company behind Columbus Radio Group.

“To say I’m shocked is an understatement,” Friedrich said in a message. “The number of years, days, hours I dedicate to it. Lots of hours away from home. Enter when sick, late at night, early in the morning, during Covid and more. Some talked about Mix’s face, voice and heartbeat. It’s rubbish! But I met so many great people, artists, groups. The memories are forever.
